This is the 6-foot tall plaster working model of a seated President Abraham Lincoln in the West building of the National Gallery of Art that Daniel Chester French used to design the marble Lincoln Memorial (1922).
This working model is signed October 31, 1916 and resides at French's country studio Chesterwood Estate and Museum, in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It will be on view in Washington D.C., until February 2010 - commemorating Lincoln's 200th birthday.
