One benefit of carrying a compact camera on you wherever you go is that you get to snap spontaneous, unscripted moments that come and go in the blink of an eye.

In this case, I was walking downtown when two ducks flew out of the sky and started frolicking in the new (1987) US Navy Memorial at 7th and Pennsylvania, NW. I think it's kind of cool to get a snapshot of a pair of wild animals in the middle of a large urban area.
