This is a shot of the National Portrait Gallery - a civil war era building (1867). It was originally the US Patent Office. The building also houses the Smithsonian's American Art Museum. I call this photo, taken in March 2005 during a major renovation: "Portrait Gallery"

Springtime outside the Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Asian Art. This is the Enid A. Haupt Garden. It was opened in 1987 and is a dynamic, constantly changing rooftop garden: - below it is an underground complex of Smithsonian buildings. I call this shot of flowering Magnolia trees, taken in April of 2005: "Sackler".
