After vanquishing the Lords of Xibalba, the hero twins temporarily resurrect the body of their murdered father Hun Hunahpu before giving him a proper burial.
In Maya mythology Hun Hunahpu becomes the maize-god - who is depicted in this sculpture from Copan, Honduras.
