The 70 bus is the Georgia Avenue bus. Physically the 70 runs up and down Georgia Avenue between Silver Spring, Maryland and downtown Washington. Psychically however, the 70 represents a trip through a nearly extinct slice of America - namely middle class, high density urban life.
In this pair of photographs, the 70 is about to discharge its uptown passengers downtown. I call this shot taken in November 2002:
