The Darlington Memorial was recently renovated. She looks good from a distance, especially under a strong, diffuse sunlight. Up close the effect is still quite strong, but lacks the character that age and decay lent to the previous statue.

On the plus side, this renovation guarantees that the memorial will continue to provoke onlookers for another 80 years ...
